Interview from U2U Online
| Arrived just in time only to be told that the interviews were 15 mins
behind, quick chance to grab a beer. So where have you been playing recently? We've been all over the country. To be honest with you we've done so many dates and been so many places since the summer that all the places have merged into one. I think we are coming to Middlesbrough on the 21st March. We're not an indie band. I hate the way that if you play guitars you
always seem to be put into the category of being an indie band. It seems
that the whole of the music industry is keen to place you in some sort of
category you can't simply be individual. So do you think that publications are still reflecting the aims of what they started out with years ago? I think that publications are too opinion. We were categorised in the top 20 on NME of bands to be successful in the future. It would be nice if we were but that's not the reason we're doing this, we do it because we enjoy it. |
So why aren't you releasing your album till the summer?
We want to get as many places as possible and get ourselves known
before we release the album 'cause basically we want to sell more copies.
I mean if you buy a CD it's always nice to have some idea what the band
sounds like before you buy it. Your new single seems to have a bit of a forestry theme to it with track titles like snow? We never really planned it; the whole thing was more of a coincidence
then anything else. Although I will say that it does compliment an album
or single by have some sort of order to the tracks, if you like some sort
of genre. After spending so much time on the road over the last few month JJ72 are obviously tired so we make are exit and leave them to rest before the night's gig, and what a performance it was! Lucy Kettleborough & Andrew Purser |
