Glam tarts. That is the only way to describe support band Remote control. Not technically bad at all or a bad band, but they sound like too many other glam bands- namely Rachel stamp. Some of their songs are ok and really get the crowd worked up into a moshing frenzy but they lack substance. JJ72 on the other hand are everything. Their singer has a great voice, they have some great songs, the bassist is lovely, the drummer is excellent and they are all nice people. They start with the new single (out monday 21st - go and buy it!) 'Snow' which is excellent. They then go into songs that the crowd haven't heard - Long way south, surrender and the excellent Oxygen. All these songs are more of the same but different enough to all be good songs in thier own right. The excellent 'Undergone Angel' sees Mark playing an acoustic guitar on his own and singing with the rest of the band leaving the stage. About three people know the words to it. Debut single 'October Swimer' comes next with the huge anthemic chorus I don't need anyone/You don't need anyone/Want to be a happy boy/this means that you must employ my life. Mark doesn't make much communication with the audience except the odd 'thank you' and such like. The idiot behind me seems to think it's funny to take the piss out of his nervousnesson stage. Not nice at all. They play an excellent song called Algeria after october swimmer which shows they have carved out their own turf. Set closer 'Bumblebee' is 'Jaw dropping' (Samir he he-Ben) and has loads of brilliant guitar effects. They play an extra song at the end and the set finishes with Mark trying to smash his guitar on the floor (obviously he didn't want to break it) and the band leaving the stage is a fit of distortion. Excellent gig. Go to a date on their tour before they get HUGE. 5/5
