ALBUM CONFIRMATION, PULP SUPPORT
JJ72's debut album will be released on August 28th. Titled,
imaginatively enough, 'JJ72,' it will be available on CD and vinyl formats.
The opening band for JJ72's support of Pulp at T on the Fringe on August 24th
will be Clearlake.

MAILER [OXYGEN DELAY, PULP SUPPORT, LAMACQ INTERVIEW]

Just a quick update on our last mail.
OXYGEN
JJ72's next single "Oxygen" is now to be released on 14th August 2000
and
not on the 7th as previously advertised.
T at the Fringe
JJ72 have been asked to appear as special guests for PULP at Edinburgh Corn
Exchange on August 24th.
Features
Select, NME and Melody Maker, are all running features on the band.
Internet
The www.nme.com webcast of the Dingwalls Show in London on August 2nd will
go live on August 3rd. There are some major features on the band here
including interviews, videos and a session.

Lamacq Interview
There will be an interview with JJ72 on Steve Lamacq's Evening Session
programme in Mid August.
Emails
The band will continue their personal responses to your emails later this

Previous Singles
In relation to queries on previous singles, rather than buy them at
ridiculous prices from unworthy dealers wait for a couple of months as stock
will be reissued to stores and singles can always be rereleased.

Melody Maker this week featured a lovely poster of Hilary in its images section. It is taken from the recent pre-Glasto (and decidedly dodgy) 'fashion' spread the band did. I suggest we campaign for a poster of Fergal and his tablecloth.

Features
Look out for JJ72 features in Select, NME and Melody Maker (amongst others)
on the week beginning August 7th (release date for "Oxygen").
Internet
You can check out www.nme.com for a webcast of the Dingwalls Show in London
on August 2nd (this may be delayed until August 3rd for better quality).
There will be an exclusive of the entire video for Oxygen on www.nme.com
around that time also. The videos for Snow and Long Way South, alongside an
exclusive interview and accoustic session from the band, will be available
there also for you to have a look at. So put that date in your diary.

Competition
Also the Competition # 1 details you got yesterday, we made a small mistake!
(thanx to matthew for letting us know!) The b-sides on Oxygen are
'Desertion' (not 'Surrender'!) and 'Astoria'. You simply need to give the
first lines from each to enter. Send mails to jj72@lakotarecords.com on
week of release (07/08/00). Other competitions will be appearing on
www.jj72.com in the coming weeks.
Lamacq Session
JJ72 are recording a session for Steve Lamacq this week so that should be
aired on week of release also. We'll give you the date when we get it.
XFM
There is a live session and interview on XFM Radio tomorrow (19/07/00),
listen in there for details.

The new video for Oxygen has gone to mtv, go to the mtv uk website (

GIGS
The support at Dingwalls is a band called 'Tenner'- nope, me neither. That gig has now sold out. The band are also playing Leeds Cockpit on August 3rd as part of a thing called The Barfly Sessions- more later.

SESSIONS
JJ72 recently did a session for Radio
1. Unfortunately I was on holiday and missed the broadcast... so if anyone
has it taped email me!!! The tracklisting was apparently: October Swimmer,
Oxygen, Algeria, Depression (Desertion?) [ NB This was in fact a live set
for Lamacq Live and not a session.]
An XFM session also went out on July19th with an interview and acoustic versions
of 'Snow' and 'October Swimmer.' Again, tapes anyone?!?

Thanks to Matt Slack for the new interview you can find in the Writing section. It contains a tracklisting for the album, which according to Melody Maker is called 'JJ72,' which runs:

Presumably the missing track from the list is 'Oxygen,' discussed earlier in the interview. I'm not sure how encouraging it is to see only four unreleased songs on a debut album, ( reminds me a little of Embrace's debut) but the interview also discusses leaving this album behind pretty soon and moving on... so new material soon, hopefully!
