Glastonbury, JJ72 had the biggest crowd at the new bands tent that weekend,
so thanks...

JJ72 will release their next single "Oxygen" on August 7th 2000. By the way
the two previously unheard b-sides are excellent.

JJ72 Internet Site
Our Internet Site is being overhauled at the moment it will be ready by 6th
July. This is why there hasn't been regular updates there recently. When it
comes up there will be some new stuff up there for you to browse.

In addition the band will play Dingwalls London on the 2nd August. Just to
let you know tickets are on sale, last friday there were 214 tickets sold
for the show so there are tickets left this week.

UPCOMING
There will be more JJ72 freebies, competitions etc advertised through this

JJ72 are playing Camden Dingwalls on August 2nd. (Thanks to Chris Bates for that info.) I'm continuing to update the site by the way so stick around.

The next single 'Oxygen' will be out at the end of JULY, not June as stated below. This should be followed by the first album in August and a re-release of 'October Swimmer' in September-October time.

Welcome to all the newcomers to the JJ72 Official Mailing List. You'll get
regular updatse from here (if you want them!) and a band member will reply
to your individual mail periodically.

Firstly JJ72 would like to thank all of you for your support on the current
single, LONG WAY SOUTH. We got a chart position of 68 which everybody was
really pleased about. Another 1211 sales in week 1 would have seen us into
the UK Top 40!! Not bad for a 3rd release we reckon...

As you know JJ72 are currently on tour with The Dandy Warhols.

There have been two changes to the forthcoming dates... the band are now
playing on the Friday afternoon of Glastonbury and the forthcoming London
date with the DWs has been changed to the Astoria (see below).

A lot of people have been requesting copies of earlier releases. We are
planning to re-release material after the summer so if you can wait until
then you'll avoid having to buy extortionately priced copies from
unreputable dealers. Some collector goodies will be made available from the
official JJ72 website in August for competitions. Lakota (our record
company) have agreed to give away a number of copies of back catalogue to
you guys around then. You'll get a reminder of this closer to the time.

Okay, the next JJ72 single will be entitled OXYGEN and will be released in
the 3rd or 4th week in JUNE. IF YOU LIKED ANY OF THE PREVIOUS SINGLES YOU
ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS ONE!! When you hear it you'll agree it's something
very special indeed. We are trying to arrange something special for you lot
around the release which will come free with the release.

Again thanks for all the support so far... remember it's you lot that really
make this work... if you have a moment to spare email some of the people
below and tell them why the should be supporting the band!!

Good to see the message board seems to be taking off a bit, keep it up! Well, site going to be added to loads from about June 10th onwards, so keep coming back. Long Way South entered the charts at #68, which is pretty poor but hey at least its there. And... the video is now on www.jj72.com , although the Snow vid has apparently disappeared! Thanks to Rufus for the info that Long Way South has been delayed until 22nd May, and also that the band are playing Reading/Leeds, T in the Park and Glasto.

I love it! Its a little different to the previous two singles. Its more upbeat and less anthemic. More than anything it makes me think of Placebo in their better moments. Dare I even say that Mark sounds a little like Brian Molko in the chorus?? I'd better shut up before 'the new Placebo' gets added to that ridiculous list of comparisons (which are all miles off.) Release day still set for 15th May. Sound clip (MP3) now available at www.jj72.com. Also available now is the full video for Snow (Real Video). The lyrics to LWS are now also in the Lyrics section of this site.

Check out the embarrassingly good-looking www.motorhomes-online.com for more information. 2 singles out, album on the way... again, sounds familiar!! The limited sound clips on the site suggest they are a very decent prospect, and just the sort of thing JJ fans are going to like.

New interview that's just gone up in the interviews section, nicked from www.thebrainfarm.cjb.net is excellent. The band talk much more openly than I've noticed before. The second album could have a trip-hop direction (irony? who knows?) ... they don't really mind the Manics (yay!) ... Mark wants to play October Swimmer to a full Wembley Stadium ... big gripe coming up:

TBF: Do you have shows where you've played really well, but the crowd have been unresponsive?
Mark: Yeah, some of the places.. Sheffield. Nobody gave a shit who was playing onstage when we were in Sheffield

Sheffield has played host to virtually my entire gig career!!! I'm insulted! But seriously, he's right... I saw Ooberman there not long back and the response was heartbreaking. Hopefully will be better for JJ at the Casbah next month!

Checking over the SJP website (now on links) it seems that the album is in the process of being produced with Ian Caple for SJP. Ian produced 'Snow,' 'October Swimmer,' and presumably 'Long Way South.' He has previously worked with Tricky on the seminal 'Pre-Millenium Tension' album, Mansun's 'Attack of the Grey Lantern' and most of Tindersticks' stuff. Earlier in his career, he worked with Kate Bush and Adam Ant. Hehe. He's also done remixes for Faithless and loads of others.

On 25th April a new JJ72 site started. And, um, you're here! To my knowledge this is the *second* unofficial site. The *first* with message board and stuff. Hehe.

JJ72 will release their next single in the UK on 15th May 2000. The track is entitled 'Long Way South'. It is the band's third release on Lakota Records. A video will accompany the track.
